Welcome to Southminster. We are glad you’re here!
We are a mission oriented community. We are at our best when we are working to make life better for those who are struggling. Believing that God calls us to serve others, we find ways to address the needs we see in the world around us.
We are a learning community, offering a variety of opportunities for Christian education and conversation for all ages.
We are a fellowshipping community. We love to laugh, play, and of course eat together; and we are good at all three! The warmth, friendliness, and caring of this congregation are what make us feel like we are truly part of a family of faith.
We are a worshiping community. We value our time together as we worship God. The beautiful harmonies of the choir, the prayers of the people, the sharing of the Scriptures, and relevant preaching inspire us weekly.
We are a welcoming and inclusive community. Whatever your background or circumstance, you are welcome here. We are richer for our diversity, and your presence among us is a blessing.
As part of the Presbyterian Church USA, we “affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers.”
We are an inclusive church; supporting all peoples in their faith journeys regardless of gender, age, orientation, or ethnicity.
When we meet in person, Sunday mornings typically begin with adult education classes, followed by a worship service at 10:00 AM which includes songs (old and new), prayer, scripture, and an engaging message. Elementary and preschool children leave the partway through the service for Sunday School that goes until 11:30 am.
We also encourage everyone to participate in activities throughout the week: Team meetings, various classes, and support groups. In addition, we continue to focus on local, regional, and global missions through volunteerism and/or financial support. Our church community is often inspired by those who are learning how to grow their own faith.
