Missions we support locally:

The Castle- We donate food towards lunch on the last Sunday of each month. If you would like to help you can contact Maggie Jones.

House of Bread - Volunteers go to House of Bread on a Tuesday to help prepare and serve lunch every other month of the year. Carolyn Kennedy is the coordinator for volunteers and can answer any questions.
The following are the dates to volunteer:
April 15th, June 17, August 19th, October 21st, December 16th.
The hours are from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Dayton Urban Ministries - Our relationship with Dayton Urban Ministries continues with financial contributions, we also have the children attend a “Trunk or Treat” in October.
We also encourage tutors for the children from the congregation. Call Jane Sheats if you are interested in this mission.

Habitat for Humanity - We contribute financially and will work at the site this summer. If you have interest please contact Joe Lambright.

Southeast Food Pantry -The food pantry, known as FISH Southeast serves people in Centerville, Washington Township, and the southern portion of Kettering who are in need of immediate food assistance. Phone volunteers monitor and screen calls Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from their homes. Delivery volunteers select enough food in the pantry to provide a family with fifteen meals, purchase fresh food, and deliver the food to the family. In 2007 the pantry served 18,180 meals to 1,212 individuals. The first Sunday of the month a barrel for nonperishable food and monetary donations is placed in the narthex. Upcoming events:

Mission Trip - We are currently trying to organize a trip to the New Orleans area for the end of March if you are not able to go at that time Fairmont Presbyterian Church in Kettering is going to New Orleans April 27th thru May 3rd. If you have any interest in going that week either call Mike Harvey from Fairmont at 293-1702 or Jane Sheats at 885-4085.

The African Children’s Choir - Southminster is hosting a concert on Friday May 9th, at 7:00 pm. This year’s choir is made up of 26 children, all from Uganda. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the joy and inspiration of these children. We need host families to house children and an adult chaperone just for Friday night, volunteers to be greeters and ushers during the concert, and help with preparing and serving a meal on Friday at 5:00. If you would like to help, please call Jane Sheats at 885-4085.

Alternative Christmas Market - On November 1st, 2008 will be our second market. This year it will be at our church and we will begin the planning this summer. Last year we worked with Fairmont Presbyterian and raised $18063 towards local and international missions. To help, contact the church or Jane Sheats at 885-4085.
