Sunday, May 13 and 20 - Share Your Garden! - The Compassion and Assistance Committee will hold their annual "Share Your Perennials" event before and after each service. Thin out your garden to help the hungry. Free will offerings will go to our Food Bank. We will also accept house plants. Questions? Call Dorothy Douglas.
Wednesday, May 16 - Join us at 6 p.m. for our next Free Community Meal. If you are interested in church membership Pastor Eric will be offering a brief introductory class "Discovering Church Membership" after the Community Meal from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Adult Lounge (Room 205). Topics covered will include our faith, our focus as a congregation, and our form of church government. If you are interested in this cass please respond to the church office at 433.1810 or email eric@sminster.com by May 14.
Sunday, May 20 - 12:15 - 1:30 after Worship - Young Children and Worship/Godly Play. What is it? What do we do there? Why is it important? How might we do it even better? How might I become involved in this ministry? A discussion and story experience with parents, leaders, and anyone in the congregation who is interested in knowing more about 'where the children go when they leave ths sanctuary'! Wednesday, May 30 - It's also a time to celebrate the 20 anniversary of Catch the Building Spirit! This year we are moving to a new location to build a 2 story house just north of the Wright Dunbar neighborhood at the corner of Edson and Conover. We are looking for volunteers who help staff the hospitality tent on Wednesday, May 30. There is also need for volunteers to build, paint, run errands, etc. The Catch the Building Spirit build begins the Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 26 this year and continues until the house is completed, normally around Labor Day. Our "construction" time is Tuesday - Fri (8-4), Sat (8-Noon) with an evening opportunity on Thursday (5:30-8:30). Mark your summer calendars! High school mission week in Richmond, Virginia is set for July 8 - 14, and our middle school local mission week will be June 19 - 22.
July and August - New Pictorial Directory: Southminster will publish a new pictorial directory this Fall! Photographs will be taken here at the church on July 18-21 and August 15-18, from 3:00-9:00 p.m. week days and 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. There will be a make-up date scheduled in September, if necessary. Information on scheduling appointments will be forthcoming, so keep watching the bulletin and newsletter for further details!
