This class is open to youth, grades 6-9, who wish to explore their faith and what it means to be a Christian at Southminster Presbyterian Church. Confirmands meet every week for 8 months and learn through prayer, scripture, and Collaborate: Presbyterian Confirmation curriculum as well as guest speakers and off-site diversity experiences. This class is offered every other year.

High school youth are encouraged to meet with Kim Catchpole to identify individualized leadership opportunities and mission projects.

Retreats and Lock-ins
Youth have the opportunity to participate in off-site retreats and church lock-ins. Be sure to put these dates on your calendar and look for more opportunities throughout the year.

  • Mid-Year Lock-In: January 14 -15, Southminster Presbyterian Church
  • Presbyterian Youth Council Retreat: April 6-8, Kirkmont Retreat Center
  • Montreat Youth Conference: June 3-9, Montreat, North Carolina

Pastoral Care
Pastoral care for children and youth is offered by our staff through Blessing Based Spiritual Nurture (BBSN). In BBSN, a trained adult uses listening, prayer, and affirming blessings as a way to allow a child to share the things which are concerns, as well as joys. We seek a congregation that cares for all ages. If we can support your child and family during times of stress or other difficulty, please talk to one of our staff.

Youth/ Adult Connections

Youth ministry thrives on positive youth/ adult relationships. Are you a caring adult with a listening ear or a helping hand? Contact us to become a volunteer today.

Growth Group For Parents
Time: 8:45-9:45am
Location: Room 205 (Adult Lounge)

The Christian Education Team will be offering a Growth Group opportunity for parents of children and youth. After dropping your kids off at Sunday School, join with other parents in fellowship from 8:45-9:45am. There will be coffee, laughter, and time for learning and reflection. This group will follow the Sunday school calendar (Sept-May) and meet during Sunday School hours. Nursery care will be provided for children under 4 years old. Contact Adrienne or Kevin Dickson for more details.
