Service Opportunities
Soup kitchen – the youth cook a meal for the Men’s Homeless Shelter in Dayton on the 4th Sunday of every month in the CFC kitchen at 10:00. We take a team of youth to serve at the shelter from 11 – 1. Talk to Megan if you want to come! Soup kitchen dates this fall are Sunday August 26, September 23, October 28, November 25.
Build a house at SPC! Grab a friend and come on Saturday September 22 at 8 a.m. to frame a house for Habitat for Humanity! All ages are welcome, and you don’t need any construction experience. Bring your friends and family and get ready for an awesome day together of service!
Trunk or Treat – each year we host a Halloween party for the children of Dayton Urban. This year we will partner with the session, and more details are coming soon!
Just for Fun
In addition to our Wednesday night craziness, we are having a youth group outing to the Greene on Saturday, August 25th! Meet in the grass area at the center of the Greene at 6:00 and wear your snazziest dressy clothes. (Goodwill has some great ones if you don’t have anything in your closet!) We will have dinner at the Greene and then head to Flash Photography at 8:00 for crazy youth group pictures!
Details for a youth group campout this fall at Margaret’s house are in the works. Word is there may even be a bonfire. And smores.
Sunday School
Sunday programs between services start September 9th! Middle school students head to the middle school room (near the supply room in the downstairs hall with the yellow walls). This year we are purchasing a special curriculum that spans 2 years and will prepare the students for confirmation. It is a great program and we would love to have all middle school students come! High school students have two between service options. Students who would like to shepherd one of the children’s classes can sign up with Pastor Jackie or Ms. Barb. Shepherds work with the same class each week and help the children with their rotations and Bible stories. High school students are also invited to a new high school Sunday School class in the ARK! Bring your Bibles with you!
